My son is a heroin addict
My son is a heroin addict.
I am 72. He is 45.
I found him with a needle in his arm 22 years ago.
And so it started. Good days, bad days, very bad days and days when life was normal.
My daughter left school, went to university, lived in London, Manchester and finally settled in Chorley where she has a job she loves.
Tim left school, tried university, it didn't work out. Finally he started work in the family business.
People say how can you not know your child is taking drugs?
Well. It's complicated. It starts slowly. There are suspicions, denials and endless rows.
No parent wants to accept a the awful truth and this clouds the issue.
He had many friends who came to the house. They listened to loud music and smoked pot. There were parties and lots of booze.
Most of his friends were attractive and fun.
They crammed into cars, went to festivals and illegal raves.
Life was a laugh.
Then suddenly it wasn't.
The mood darkened. Daughter came to visit, we had holidays, some marital problems.
Life went on.
Then.
Everything changed. Forever...
